Hartsel is about two hours southwest of Denver and an hour east of Colorado Springs. This property is in the South Park National Heritage Area with a rich history - it was once home to indigenous people, gold and silver mining, the movement west during the 1800s, abundant wildlife - huge bison herds roamed the area feeding on the protein rich grass that grows in this area. Bison still roam the area but in ranches and they are raised for the market. Deer, pronghorn antelope and elk still roam freely in this area. Everything Colorado is known for is easily accessed from this location - hiking, biking, ATVing and cross country skiing in Pike National Forest to the east and San Isabel National Forest to the west - because this property is in the center of Colorado. Alpine skiing is about an hour away at either Breckenridge or Monarch Ski Resorts. Buena Vista is about 45 minutes west for shopping, dining out and white water rafting on the Arkansaw River during the summer. Gold medal trout fishing and boating are enjoyed at local reservoirs, Spinney and Eleven Reservoirs as well as the world renowned "Dream Stream."
